What's it like to be a Student in 2019?

My CMNS 150 class had the opportunity to re-create Michael Wesch's video A Vision of Students Today, to show what it is like to be a student in 2019. With statistics found online and our own personal feelings about it, we created our version of the video,

Social Media - 2 way Communication

When it comes to social media, you cannot get away, it is everywhere. In the social media arena whenever someone puts something out there into the world, anyone can respond. And not only one person, hundreds, thousands, millions even. With it being a platform that everyone has access to, it means that everyone is also the contributor. While we are making all the content, the big guys that own the companies are raking in the cash. With Youtube, being sold for 1.6 Billion in 2006 to google, is one thing, but now Google's assets are at an insane number of $133 Billion. All this money because they provided a platform for us to share our thoughts. The fact that anyone can share anything can really change things. For example, journalism has been impacted cause now everyone is a journalist, being able to post video, a picture at any time makes it hard for journalists to compete.

My only question is what will happen to journalism and other jobs that are being impacted by social media and the online world?

Favourite Travel Blog Part 2

My other favourite travel blog will have to be Nomadic Matt. I have been following him for quite some time now so it has been interesting watching him grow from a small-time blogger to one of the most popular travel bloggers in the world. With almost every country on his website as well a media school that he has started, it is your one-stop-shop for travel tips.

My Favourite Travel Blog

David's Been Here is one of my favourite travel bloggers. With real info that contains prices and easy reading content. This page I posted tells about the 15 places you must see in Thailand. Each place has a bolded title so it's easy to see the sections, info, and a photo of the destination. It's simple and straight to the point, unlike other blogs out there.

Check him out!

Here I went around to Moss Street Market to take a look at what it had to odder. While taking pictures of some of my favourite stands, I was able to talk and get to know the people their product. This photo essay is a way for me to share that experience and the people I met.

Take a look! And make sure to stop by the market on any Saturday. Rain or Shine.

Cheers,
Kourtney
